Way of Deliverance:

So, the surest way of deliverance from the ordeal of Hereafter is that one should have an absolute and solemn faith in the existence of Allah, carry out the principle of tawhid (monotheism) in his practical life, and pass his life in complete submission to and obedience of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) declared that:

«مَنْ كَانَ آخِرُ كَلَامِهِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ»  (أبو داوود)

(Translation of meaning) Anybody whose last utterance was “La ilaha illallah” shall enter Paradise (Abu Dawood).  Now it is certain that the man who loves someone else shall rise along with him.  A man came to the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and said: O Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), I love you more than my own self. O Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) I love you more than my children. When I go back I begin to remember you and become impatient so I come back to you so that I keep on looking at you. But when I think of death I think you will be among the messengers of Allah in the Paradise. If I am lodged in Paradise how could I see you? The Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) could not give him a reply just then. But very soon the following ayat [verse] was revealed to him which clarified the situation:

وَمَنْ يُطِعْ اللَّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فَأُوْلَئِكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ وَحَسُنَ أُوْلَئِكَ رَفِيقاً (69) (النساء : 69)

(Translation of meaning) [“Whosoever obeyth Allah and the messenger, they are with those unto whom Allah hath shown favour, of the Prophets and the saints and the martyrs and the righteous. The best of company they!” (An-Nisa: 69)].

A man asked the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) when will the Last Day come? The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) asked him: What preparation have you made for the Day of Resurrection ? He replied: I have nothing but my love for Allah and His Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). Then the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) told him: You will be in company of one whom you love (Al-Bukhari & Muslim).

A dilemma will arise when the good deeds and evil deeds of some people will be equal. If good deeds will prevent them from going to Hell then his evil deeds will prevent them from going to Paradise. These people will be known as “As’hab-i-A’raf”. Therefore, it should be the endeavour of every believing Muslim to come nearer and nearer to Allah. May be he is blessed with success and well-being. Allah has proclaimed:

لا يَسْتَوِي أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ وَأَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ هُمْ الْفَائِزُونَ (20) (الحشر:20)

(Translation of meaning) [“The People of the Hell and the People of the Heaven can never be equal. The People of the Heaven alone are successful” (Al-Hashr: 20)].
