Hadrat Is’haq (Alaihis Salam)

Allah (Ta’ala) blessed the prophet Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) with a son from the womb of his bondwoman Hadrat Hagar (Alaihas Salam).  Thereupon Hadrat Ibrahim prayed to God to bless him with another son from the womb of his wife Hadrat Sarah who had stood by him through all his travels in the way of God.  Allah (Ta’ala) accepted his prayer and sent his angels to Hadrat Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) to deliver him the happy tidings.  These angels visited him in the guise of human beings.  He considered them to be his honourable guests and to feast them properly he served them a roasted calf. When he saw that the guests were not taking  the food he felt fear of them.  He entreated them to eat but they would not.  Then the angels disclosed their identity and told him that they have been sent to destroy the folk of Lot.  You should not worry but keep content.   Allah (Ta’ala) has deputed us to deliver you the tidings of the birth of a son.  Hadrat Sarah heard this from behind the curtain. She exclaimed: How could it be?  I’m a sterile old woman and my husband too has become old. How could I deliver a son? The angels replied that this was a command of Allah and he is All Mighty.

Accordingly, Hadrat Is’haq (Alaihis Salam) was born from the womb of Hadrat Sarah (Alaihas Salam). We don’t have any particulars about his people in the Quran.  He has been mentioned in Quran in this way:

وَاذْكُرْ عِبَادَنَا إبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْحَقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُوْلِي الأَيْدِي وَالأَبْصَارِ (45) إِنَّا أَخْلَصْنَاهُمْ بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى الدَّارِ (46) وَإِنَّهُمْ عِنْدَنَا لَمِنْ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ الأَخْيَارِ (ص: 45-47)

Translation of Meaning: “And make mention of our bondmen, Ibrahim, Is’haq and Ya’qub, men of prowess and vision.  Lo! We purified them with a pure thought, remembrance of the abode [of the Hereafter].  Lo! in our sight they are verily of the elect, the excellent” (Sad: 45-47).

According to a tradition narrated in the Saheeh of Bukhari, the Messenger of Allah () mentioned him in this way:  Karim Bin Karim Bin Karim Bin Karim Yusuf  Bin Ya’qub Bin Is’haq Bin Ibrahim (Peace be on all of them).
