Dua when visiting a Patient
- Abdullah bin Abbas Radhi’Allahu Anhuma narrated that Allah’s Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam said:
«مَنْ عَادَ مَرِيضًا لَمْ يَحْضُرْ أَجَلُهُ فَقَالَ عِنْدَهُ سَبْعَ مِرَارٍ أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ إِلاَّ عَافَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْمَرَضِ»
Translation: If anyone visits a sick whose time (of death) has not come, and says with him seven times:
« أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ , رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنْ يَشْفِيكَ» (ابو داؤود، ترمذي)
Asalu-llahal azeem, Rabbul Arshil azeeme An yashfeek.
I ask Allah, the Mighty, the Lord of the mighty Throne, to cure you, Allah will cure him from that disease. (Abu Dawood, Tirmizi)
- Abdullah bin Abbas RadhiAllahu Anhuma narrated that The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam paid a visit to a sick bedouin. The Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam) when visiting a patient used to say:
«لاَ بَأْسَ طَهُورٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ» (بخاري)
La ba’as, tahoorun in sha Allah.
‘Never mind, may it (the sickness) be a purification, if Allah wills.’ (Al-Bukhari)
