Dua at the Time of Anger

  • Allah (Ta’ala) says in the Holy Quran:

Translation of Meaning: Verily, those who are Al-Muttaqûn (the pious), when an evil thought comes to them from Shaitân (Satan), they remember (Allâh), and (indeed) they then see (aright). (Al-Araf: 201)

  • Narrated Sulaiman bin Surad: Two men abused each other in front of the Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam) while we were sitting with him. One of the two abused his companion furiously and his face became red. The Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:

“I know a word (sentence) the saying of which will cause him to relax if this man says it. Only if he said,

“I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the outcast.’  (Al-Bukhari, Muslim)

  • Hadhrat Abu Zar RadhiAllahu Anhu narrated that Allah’s Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam said to us:

Translation: When one of you becomes angry while standing, he should sit down. If the anger leaves him, well and good; otherwise he should lie down. (Abu Dawood)

  • Hadhrat Abu Hurairah RadhiAllahu Anhu narrated that Allah’s Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam said:

Translation: When a person is angry, and he says “A’uzu billah”, his anger will depart. (Saheeh Ahadeeths compiled by Al-Albani)
